You've just received your new SentinelX in the mail. What's next?
This guide will walk you through the steps of setting up your new SentinelX with the COIN App.
But first... What is the COIN App, and why do I need a "sentinel"?
COIN is an app that enables you to collect digital assets that are dropped (“Geodropped”) at a specific location. You can collect these tokens by simply having the app open with a sentinel nearby. (You can buy one here)
Download the COIN app
COIN is a smartphone App, so you can download it on both the iOS App Store, and the Google Play Store on Android!

Download for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=network.xyo.coin
Set up the COIN app
When you first open COIN, you’ll be asked to allow location services. This is required because COIN relies on your location to let you geomine for digital assets. After allowing access to your location, you'll be reminded to press the button on your sentinel to emit a fresh signal. Do this so that COIN can detect the sentinel’s presence and your pickaxe can unlock better rewards.
Create a COIN account
If you're ready to withdraw your digital assets, want to make an account in preparation, or just want to make sure your digital assets are saved, you'll want to make an account.
To do this, simply click on the account icon in the top right corner of the app. You'll be prompted to enter your email address and create a password.
Activate your SentinelX
You can connect your SentinelX to the COIN account by clicking the button on your sentinel.
After clicking the button on your sentinel, the COIN App will detect your sentinel. You're now ready to start geomining!
Geomine using your SentinelX
To earn your first digital assets in COIN, just click the pickaxe button at the bottom of your screen. You'll see a blue ring appear around the pickaxe, as you geomine the section (or "quadtile") you're on.
Then, you’ll see some XYO Tokens fly into your account! The counter at the top lets you know how many XYO Tokens you’ve earned so far. That’s it!
You can toggle the "Auto Collect" feature "on" to have the COIN App mine for you, without having to press the pickaxe button.
If you didn't earn XYO Tokens, make sure to check the following:
- Did someone already geomine your quadtile? If the section has already been geomined, it will be shaded on your map, and your pickaxe will be disabled. You will either have to wait for the quadtile to reset, or travel to a new location to geomine a fresh quadtile!
- If you saw the blue ring around your pickaxe, the quadtile became shaded, and you did not earn XYO Tokens, this may be because someone nearby is also geomining, and just geomined a little faster! You'll have to wait or go to a new quadtile to geomine.
- If you received a popup, stating that today's digital assets have all been geomined, you'll need to wait for the specified time on the popup (e.g. 1 hour 32 minutes) to geomine more digital assets.
You can also check out this article for more reasons why this may have happened.
Your first geomine!
Congratulations! You’ve just geomined your first block -- or quadtile -- and now you’ve earned some digital assets. For now, you've earn XYO Tokens: an ERC20 CryptoToken.
After you've geomined a quadtile, you'll see the section turn grey on your map. This means the quadtile you just geomined is now empty! It will stay this way for a short time while it replenishes. Don’t want to wait? Travel to other spots to continue geomining.
As you collect digital assets, you'll store them in your COIN account. (Remember you'll need to make an account to eventually withdraw your assets!) You'll also need to make a digital wallet if you'd like to move the digital assets out of COIN!
Withdrawing your digital assets
Once you’ve hit 10,000.00 XYO Tokens, you are eligible to receive these tokens in an actual digital wallet. Here's the link to a detailed guide that will walk you through the steps of withdrawing your digital assets.
