If you're having any difficulty with your XY Finder and looking for a quick solution, here are some of the most common issues we see.
Jump to:
The XY4+ model, or XY Sentinel, has four tiny holes and a "4" on the back of the case, with a triangular button labeled XY on the front in the bottom right.
If you don't see the issue you're having on this list, or you still can't resolve the issue on your own, please don't hesitate to contact our customer obsession team. We'll be delighted to assist you!
If you have an older model of XY Finder, such as XY1, XY2, XY3, or XYGPS and you're having difficulty using it, please contact us and we'll help you!
Using a small, flat tool such as a large flathead screwdriver or a coin such as a U.S. nickel, insert the tool in the notch along the edge of the unit below the button.
Gently twist the flat tool either clockwise or counterclockwise to pop open the case.
Don't attempt to wrench the case open as though using a wedge or open it by applying pressure to only one half of the lid – you could damage the case. Twist back and forth and then gently pull up the edges of the lid to open it.
You can now remove the battery and see the inside of your XY4+ or XY Sentinel.
The battery is a CR3032 lithium ion coin cell. It's a common watch battery size and can be found most places where such batteries are sold.
Use the above instructions to open your XY4+. The silver disc inside that's almost as big as the case is the battery, and it should come out with ease.
The battery size is CR3032, which is a standard lithium coin battery used in watches and other small electronics. CR3032 can be purchased most places where such batteries are sold or ordered online.
Important: A more common battery size is CR2032 (2-0-3-2), which was also used in XY1, XY2, and XY3. It is not compatible with XY4+, it's much too small. Be sure to get size CR3032! (3-0-3-2)
To insert a fresh battery, make sure to firmly place the battery inside the XY4+ with the writing facing up. The unit should beep when the battery is inserted.
Make sure the battery is clean! Contaminates like dust, fingerprints, and mayonnaise may affect functionality.
Align the cover correctly, with the key ring hole and notch aligned with their counterparts on the back, place the cover back on top, and snap it into place.
Press the button to make sure the XY4+ beeps normally.
If your XY4+ beeps even when it shouldn't, it could mean a loose battery inside of your XY Finder. Open it, make sure the battery contacts are nice and tight, and reseat the battery inside the compartment. Make sure no dirt or moisture is inside the XY4+ case while you're in there. If there is, gently clean or dry it with a clean cotton swab.
If this does not resolve the issue, the unit could have a faulty battery or could be faulty, itself. XY4+ BLE beacons use a single CR3032 battery if you would like to replace it. Alternatively, please contact our customer obsession team and be sure to have your account and, if applicable, order information ready.
If your XY4+ starts ticking like a clock and won't do anything else, it's usually the result of a bad battery. If you'd like to get a battery, each unit uses a single CR3032 lithium watch battery, which you can purchase most places such batteries are sold, or order online.
If you have any questions about replacements or warranty, please contact our customer obsession team and be sure to have your order information ready.
XY4+ can't be turned off but if you're having a sound-related issue that you cannot resolve, such as the above ticking and random beeping issues, please open your XY Finder and remove the battery. If you like, you can also do this to spare the battery if you need to store it for a little while without using it.
Removing the battery will silence it immediately and cease all tracking.
